New Civilization IV Expansion Revealed

Beyond the Sword is the second expansion for the popular turn-based strategy title, Civilization IV (also known as Sid Meier's Civilization IV) from Firaxis Games. The original game was released back in 2005 and allows gamer’s to build their own empire from scratch; it was received very well by both fans and critics.

Beyond the Sword is set to offer new time-periods along with the various additions that come with them (for example new inventions like gun powder and advanced weaponry). In addition there will be around 10 brand new civilizations, 16 new leaders and 12 new scenarios to play through.

"Civilization IV has been an overwhelming critical and commercial success, so it makes sense for Firaxis Games to create the biggest, most ambitious expansion pack for one of the deepest PC games ever created,” commented Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. “Sid Meier's Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword delivers more scenarios, civilizations, units, concepts, leaders and a host of other features.”

The game is currently scheduled to launch in July of this year, but if you can’t bring yourself to wait that long you can now view a selection of newly released concept artwork for the game.
